Social Mediology is a new term. One in fact that was a collaboration between my editor Suzanne Murray of Style Matters and myself.
Why is Social Mediology important to you?
Most social media experts and guru’s discuss the technology of social media. However, that is a problem/ That is because the technology is changing very rapidly. When all those changes come about, guru’s, marketers, and experts have to change their views and even how they attempt to implement strategies in social media. What I understand as a social mediologist is this: “The User is the very heart of every social media platform. If the user leaves or no longer uses the platform, the platform is finished. This is why if you understand the psychology of the user and how they interact with the culture you will be focused on the most stable aspect of social media.
This is important for you because rather than spending money on ever changing tactics you are more focused on interacting in the right way on each platform that creates authentic relationships that lead to more business. Let’s face it we do business with people we know, like and trust. We do not do business with people we don’t know, don’t like, and do not trust.
Social media is a virtual way of creating real relationships. Those relationships that you develop in the right way give you the best chance of creating and maintaining business, and that leads to greater benefits for you and your business.
This is why Social Mediology is a new movement in not only the way we look at social media, but how we can study it, use it, and apply it to a variety of areas including your business.
I look forward to talking with you soon!
